2018
FURNITURE EXPO
Moooi presented 'A Life Extraordinary’ exhibition during the Salone del Mobile 2018, Milan Design Week. The show consisted of three parts: Moooi Through the Eyes of Concrete (a Dutch multidisciplinary design studio) , Moooi Through the Eyes, by Megan Grehl (a high-end design studio based in New York) and the Museum of Extinct Animals.
At the Salone Del Mobile 2018, Moooi presented The Museum of Extinct Animals, an opportunity to explore the extraordinary nature of these drawings. An immersive world awaits visitors to discover, as the diversity of nature and the limits of human imagination are celebrated side by side.
The Museum of Extinct Animals uses archival images from museums around the world. By celebrating the diversity of nature along with the limits of human imagination, Moooi shows a collection inspired by textures, The patterns and shapes found in drawings of extinct creatures. The elements of truth and falsehood are playfully investigated through the collection, which includes fabrics, skins, wall coverings and carpets, each designed to remember the animal and human that inspired them. From high velvet to jacquard; mohair treated leather; as well as the furry faux-fur, Moooi furniture designs rise to new heights with new fabrics. Hundreds of years after animals became extinct, Salon Del Mobile visitors are invited to touch the soft furs, the broken skins and silky plumage of animals.
